NACFOR is accepting applications until February 26, 2010 for new contractors not on their 2009 eligibility list.  To apply for eligibility, fill out an application from the 'Forms' section of our website.  Sign and date the completed form and either a) scan and e-mail, b) fax, c) post or d) drop off the application to True North Forestry Consulting Ltd.  See the form for details.

Contractors who are already on NACFOR's eligibility list from 2009 need only renew their eligibility by phone call or e-mail if their eligibility details have not changed.  If you wish to renew but have changes to report, please identify these changes when you e-mail or call to renew.

MISSION STATEMENT

Nakusp and Area Community Forest Inc. (NACFOR) strives to balance economic, ecological and social concerns in a manner that optimizes benefits for both the local and global community.

STRATEGIC GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

  4. Improve forest worker and public safety
  5. Promote community involvement in local forest management

COMPANY PROFILE

In March of 2008, the provincial government issued the Nakusp and Area Community Forest Inc. (NACFOR) a five year Probationary Community Forest License (PCFA) with an Annual Allowable Cut of 20000 cubic meters.  If properly managed and if NACFOR meets all of its commitments to the province, this license will most likely be converted to a longer term tenure upon expiration of the PCFA in 2013. 
 
The Village of Nakusp is the owner and sole shareholder of NACFOR.  NACFOR is governed by a seven member Board of Directors composed of a diverse and representative cross-section of the community.  Click here to view the Board of Director profile for more information on the members.
 
NACFOR is managed by True North Forestry Consulting Ltd of Nakusp.  True North brings extensive experience in all areas of forest management and provides a team that is extremely knowledgeable about both local forestry and community concerns.
 
The bulk of NACFOR’s operating area is located in Slewiskin (MacDonald Creek) and along the south side of the Box-Summit Lake highway corridor.  NACFOR also has tenure within areas in Fosthall, Galena Bay, Harlow Creek, the Kuskanax and Wensley Creek.  The Area Map and the Management Plan contained within this website provides more information on the NACFOR operating areas.
